Julia founded her label with a focus on functional everyday items made from regional, biodegradable raw materials. The products are handcrafted by women in Manenberg, a townsip in Cape Town. The women work from home. Payment is in cash on site – this enables them to earn an income independently of their husbands. In addition, they have health insurance through their work and pay into a small pension fund.
